WooCommerce Members Only 2.0: enhancements and new features

WooCommerce Members Only 2.0 is now available and contains a number of exciting new features and improvements.

Control access to any kind of content

Members Only was originally designed to protect WooCommerce products and categories from certain users. You can still do this in 2.0 but now you can also protect other content types including pages, posts and categories, custom post types, and custom taxonomies.

Multiple membership plans

In addition to this, version 2.0 introduces membership plans to help you set different restriction rules for different content. So now, for example, you can create a ‘Gold’ membership plan that permits certain users access to specific content; a ‘Silver’ membership plan that permits different users access to other content; and so on.

Each membership plan can specify one or more content types to be restricted; and you can specify different users or user groups.

Each membership plan can redirect users to a different landing page when they try to access restricted content. So you direct users to specific pages based on the content they want to access.

You can also define how long a user’s membership lasts per plan and specify which product they need to purchase in order to qualify for the plan.

Improved registration and custom user fields

Members Only 2.0 greatly improves user registration and custom fields. You can still create custom user fields for the registration form – but now it’s possible to add

For example, you can create more field types, including upload fields, and set conditions on user fields so that they show or hide based on the value of other fields.

You can also choose to enable custom fields in multiple locations on your site. So you can add custom registration fields to the checkout form, the user’s account page, and so on.
